Effective Shock Wave Therapy To Heal Faster and Feel Better
Many joint and soft tissue injuries can be challenging to recover from or even treat. Oftentimes people resort to surgery or invasive procedures as a result of failing to heal from conservative therapies.
Extracorporeal shockwave therapy is a modality that has been used in the treatment of soft tissue and bone injuries, dating back to the 1990’s. Since then, it has been researched thoroughly and is considered a gold standard in the treatment of a variety of conditions.
MVMT Chiropractic uses a specific shockwave device, the SoftWave Orthogold. This device generates electrohydraulic acoustic waves that provide the largest and deepest therapeutic zone of any shockwave device.
This treatment is available at all of our Houston offices and we have years of experience treating a variety of conditions with shockwave therapy.

Why Choose Shock Wave Therapy?
What Are the Benefits?
MVMT Chiropractic has always been committed to provide technology that enhances patient outcomes with treatment. We have utilized Shockwave therapy for years and have seen its effect in treating a multitude of conditions. Shockwave therapy is well researched and its benefits are well documented. Some of the those benefits include:
- Increased Blood Supply: Shockwave has been shown to stimulate a process called angiogenesis. This is the process of forming new blood vessels. ?This can help deliver oxygen and nutrients to healing tissue, speeding up the recovery process.
- Decreases Inflammation: The energy emitted by shockwave devices stimulates healing processes which can significantly reduce inflammation in the area of treatment.
- Stimulates stem cells: Shockwave therapy has been shown to enhance the release and migration of growth factors, our body’s stem cells. This plays a crucial role in new cell growth and overall tissue repair.
Other benefits from treatment include:
- No downtime after treatment
- Increased mobility and flexibility
- Often, immediate reduction in pain
- Non-invasive procedure that does not require anesthetics or numbing creams
- Alternative to surgery, medication, and other procedures
What to expect with treatment
The procedure typically takes 10-15 minutes but may be longer depending on treatment area and diagnosis. A gel is applied to the surface area to be treated. The applicator produces pulses as the clinician moves around the treatment area. During therapy, communication with the provider is necessary to identify treatment areas and monitor progress.
Most patients report some level of discomfort during treatment. The amount of discomfort typically depends on the type of injury and location of injury.
Your doctor may advise 1-2 treatments per week depending on your condition. Generally, 8 treatments may be necessary for long lasting results.
How Long Until I Can Expect Results?
Every injury and patient is unique and it is hard to determine how long your recovery will take. Our patients report an average 30-day improvement of 81%.
