Prenatal Chiropractic Care

Pregnancy is one of the most physically demanding experiences a woman’s body can undergo. As your body adapts to support a growing baby, it experiences significant biomechanical shifts — weight redistribution, hormonal changes that loosen ligaments, postural changes, and increasing pressure on the spine and pelvis. These adaptations can lead to discomfort, pain, and reduced quality of life during pregnancy and can even affect delivery outcomes.

Regular chiropractic care throughout pregnancy has been shown to positively impact musculoskeletal comfort, pelvic alignment, and overall well-being. At MVMT Chiropractic, our providers are specifically trained to care for pregnant patients at every stage of their pregnancy. Prenatal Services We Offer

  • Chiropractic adjustments: Gentle, pregnancy-safe spinal and pelvic adjustments to reduce pain and improve alignment throughout your pregnancy.
  • RockTape / Kinesio taping for belly support: Elastic therapeutic tape applied to support the growing belly, reduce round ligament pain, and offload the low back and pelvis.
  • Rehabilitation and corrective exercises: Individualized exercise programs designed to maintain core and pelvic stability, reduce pain, and prepare the body for labor.

Webster Technique

Webster Technique chiropractic adjustment for prenatal care at MVMT Chiropractic

The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment designed to reduce nervous system stress, balance the pelvic bones, muscles, and ligaments, and optimize the uterine environment for the baby’s positioning. By addressing tension in the sacropelvic region, Webster Technique can help reduce intrauterine constraint — a common contributor to malposition of the baby prior to birth.

At MVMT Chiropractic, our providers Dave Mason and Dr. Todd Hui are certified in Webster Technique through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA).

What to Expect at Your Webster Technique Visit

At your first appointment, your provider will discuss your current complaints and perform the Webster Technique analysis. You will be positioned face-down on a pregnancy pillow or on a table specially designed to accommodate your growing belly. Your doctor will assess areas of tightness and restriction from the lower back through the pelvis. Based on the assessment findings, treatment will include some or all of the following:

  • Pelvic adjustment using a drop table technique — a gentle, low-force method that lifts the pelvis slightly and applies a brief force to restore normal motion.
  • Manual therapy to release tight muscles and ligaments throughout the sacropelvic region.
  • Assessment and release of round ligament tenderness and tightness while lying on your back, using gentle manual pressure to reduce ligament tension.

Postpartum Chiropractic Care

Postpartum chiropractic care for new mothers at MVMT Chiropractic Houston

Self-care is often the last thing on a new mother’s mind — but it’s among the most important investments you can make in your recovery and your ability to care for your baby. Whether you delivered vaginally or via cesarean section, the pelvic biomechanics change significantly after birth, which can cause discomfort while walking, nursing, sleeping, and caring for your newborn.

Postpartum Conditions We Address

Pelvic and low back pain: Following delivery, the pelvis can shift out of optimal alignment. Chiropractic techniques address these changes directly, reducing discomfort and restoring normal pelvic function as your body recovers.

Neck and upper back pain: The demands of breastfeeding, pumping, holding and rocking a baby, and carrying heavy car seats place enormous repetitive stress on the neck and upper back. Our providers use manual therapy and chiropractic adjustments to release muscular tension and restore range of motion in these areas.

C-section scar recovery: MLS Laser Therapy (Cold Laser) has been shown to accelerate scar healing and improve sensation around surgical scars. This treatment can begin as soon as you are comfortable and ready to leave the house after delivery.

Prenatal & Postpartum Chiropractic Care — Frequently Asked Questions

Is chiropractic care safe during pregnancy?

Yes. Chiropractic care is safe and beneficial throughout pregnancy when provided by a trained practitioner. At MVMT Chiropractic, our providers are specifically trained in pregnancy-safe techniques and use tables and positioning designed to accommodate all stages of pregnancy — including the third trimester.

What is Webster Technique and who is it for?

Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment that reduces nervous system stress, balances the pelvic bones, muscles, and ligaments, and creates an optimal environment for the baby’s positioning. It is commonly used throughout pregnancy — particularly in the third trimester — to reduce intrauterine constraint and support optimal fetal positioning.

When should I start prenatal chiropractic care?

You can begin prenatal chiropractic care at any point during your pregnancy. Many patients start in the first trimester to support postural adaptation as their body changes, while others seek care later for specific complaints like round ligament pain, low back pain, or pelvic discomfort. Early and consistent care tends to produce the best outcomes.

How soon after delivery can I see a chiropractor?

Postpartum chiropractic care can typically begin a few days to a week after vaginal delivery, or when cleared by your OB following a cesarean section. The sooner you address postpartum pelvic and spinal changes, the faster and more complete your recovery is likely to be.

Can chiropractic care help with c-section scar recovery?

Yes. MVMT Chiropractic uses MLS Laser Therapy (Cold Laser) to accelerate healing and improve sensation around c-section scars. Treatment can begin as soon as you are comfortable and able to leave the house after delivery, and it is a non-invasive, painless option for scar recovery.

What is kinesio taping used for during pregnancy?

RockTape and kinesio taping provide elastic support to the growing belly and can help reduce round ligament pain, low back pain, and general pelvic discomfort during pregnancy. It is applied by your provider and can be worn for several days between appointments.

Does MVMT Chiropractic treat postpartum neck and upper back pain?

Yes. Postpartum neck and upper back pain from nursing, pumping, and baby care is one of the most common complaints we see in new mothers. Our providers use manual therapy techniques and chiropractic adjustments to release muscular tension and restore range of motion so you can care for your baby comfortably.
