Prenatal Care

  • Why should you get chiropractic care while pregnant?
    • During pregnancy a woman’s body experiences numerous biomechanical adaptations and physiological changes. These changes often have an adverse effect on her neuro-musculo-skeletal system affecting quality of life in pregnancy, birth outcome, and the future well-being of her baby. Regular chiropractic care throughout pregnancy can have a positive effect and make the pregnancy and delivery much more successful.

Webster Technique

  • What is Webster Technique?
    • The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment that reduces nervous system stress, balances pelvic bones, muscles, and ligaments. By reducing the stress on the mother’s nervous system it will improve the function and tension of the pelvic muscles and ligaments to provide an optimal environment for the mother’s uterus and allow the baby to get in the best possible position for birth.
  • What to expect with Webster Technique treatment?
    • For your first treatment, we will talk about areas of complaints and assess you with the Webster Technique analysis and have you lay face down either on a pregnancy pillow or on a table that will accommodate your growing belly. Depending on what your complaint is and what the findings are we will do all or some of the following to address your complaints. While laying face down, the doctor will assess areas of tightness and restrictions from your lower back to your pelvis. After confirming which side needs to be adjusted, the doctor will adjust the pelvis by using a Drop Table Technique that will lift the pelvis about an inch and drop which will provide a gentle force for the adjustment. After the adjustment, the doctor will address the tightness in the muscles and ligaments and use manual therapy techniques to help release them. After releasing the tightness in the pelvis, the doctor will have you flip over and assess for round ligament tenderness and tightness. The doctor will use a manual therapy technique with minimal pressure to release the tension of the ligament.

Postpartum Care

  • Why should you continue chiropractic care after giving birth?
    • Recovery/self care is often the last thing on a new moms mind but it is also important. Whether giving birth vaginally or via c-section, the mother’s pelvic biomechanics change which can cause discomfort while walking, nursing, and sleeping. After addressing the pelvic changes with chiropractic techniques mentioned above in the prenatal care section.
  • Neck/upper back discomfort are most commonly seen due to holding prolonged positions while breastfeeding/pumping, holding/rocking the baby, lifting/carrying car seats, etc. With the use of manual therapy techniques we can release the tension in the neck/upper back and help mobilize the neck and mid back with adjustments to help improve range of motion.
  • C-section scar recovery
    • Cold laser therapy (MLS Laser Therapy) has been utilized to speed up the healing process and improve the sensation around the scar. Cold Laser therapy can be done as soon as you are comfortable and ready to leave the house.
